Majorca will support more than 16 million tourists this year on an island of 1.200.000 inhabitants. In order to help counteract the effect that all these tourists have in the natural resources of this island, the government introduced a tourist tax to help with the economic costs.

The tourist tax, which helps support the impact that tourism has on the natural resources of the island, costs 2.20 euros per adult aged 16 and above per night. Children don't pay. If you are staying for more than 8 nights, the tax is reduced to half from the 9th night onwards.
